What is it?
Beaverdale is a premium quality wine kit which requires no added sugar (all of the sugar content is contained within the grape juice). Everything you need to make this wine is included with the kit (except water). The wine can be drunk young, but unlike some 3-week wine kits, it will continue to mature if you are patient. This kit will make 5 gallons (22.5 litres) of wine, which will produce around 30 bottles of delicious wine.
The Beaverdale range is very popular and is amongst the highest quality 5-gallon wine kits available on the market.
What is Shiraz?
Shiraz is a super ripe fruity and bold flavoured dry wine. It provides flavours and aromas of black fruits, pepper and mint developing notes of espresso, liquorice and chocolate in hotter conditions and with age leather truffles and earthy aromas. You will be greeted with a punch of flavour that tapers off and then as a wonderful spicy peppery note in the aftertaste.
Shiraz is robust and considered one of the greatest, noble, black grape varieties around due to its ability to produce dark age-worthy full-bodied wines.
- A pouch of Shiraz style grape concentrate
- A sachet of oak chip
- A sachet of yeast
- A sachet of wine stabiliser to end the fermenting process
- Sachets of Chitosan and Kieselsol wine finings to clear the wine

What equipment do you need?
Basic 5 gallon winemaking equipment, for example, plastic fermenter or bucket, bung, airlock and sterilizer. You will find these under the starter kit section of this website.
This punchy wine teams well with steaks, burgers and lasagne, unleashing intense flavours. Shiraz also compliments bite-sized mature, peppery cheese served on toasted bread and pasta dishes.
We recommend using a Vinbrite filter to clear the wine to a professional standard.
If you can leave it a few months to mature, the wine will greatly improve

- Beaverdale Shiraz 5G
This wine didn't quite have the spicy kick I was hoping for from a Shiraz. I used a heat pad and it fermented away very quickly in my shed. In all fairness I think it fermented too quickly but I followed every instruction to the letter. It is very drinkable and my wife thinks its great but like I say I was hoping for a little bit more spiciness! Will try Merlot next and keep you posted.
