Sour beers date back to the eighteenth-century Belgium. However, it is a hot debate what came first: using Brettanomyces yeast to create tart and funky flavours, or poor sanitation and a poor understanding of bacteria. One thing we can all agree on is that sour beers are some of the most interesting combinations on the market.

Our aptly named Watermelon Sour Beer provides the perfect combination of refreshing and fruity notes, with a slight sourness that leaves you wanting more. Never mind one in a melon, it’s truly one in a million!

Hello beer lover! Muntons Tap Room series is a unique collection of our master-brewer’s creations. Only one batch of each recipe is brewed., making each one a truly limited edition kit.

SPECIFICATIONS

To make the Muntons Premium Lager, you will either need 1Kg Brewing Sugar or 1Kg Pale Beer Kit Enhancer (Preferred) . Later, you will also need sugar or carbonation drops to prime the keg or bottles for the secondary fermentation. We also advise using finings like Starbrite to ensure your lager clears quickly and the sediment sticks to the bottom on the bottle or keg.

MUNTONS PREMIUM BEER KITS

The Muntons Premium range was developed for the original four kits in the early days of English home-brewing. Formulations for this range have purposely not been changed since they were first developed back in the early 1970′s – a tremendous heritage and a proven track record The Premium range allows home beer makers to experience high quality flavours in their own homes, enjoyably and economically. Once again the Muntons Premium range is made entirely from 100% hopped malt extract with no inferior or cheap adjuncts such as barley syrup.

TIPS

To achieve a commercial quality, we strongly recommend using Pure Brew with this kit. Pure Brew is a professional beer enhancer. It feeds the yeast with essential nutrients, which supercharge the fermentation and support yeast development (even in limited oxygen conditions). Pure Brew also treats brewing water, eliminating problems caused by Chlorine and Chloramine, which can create a medicinal or, as it is sometimes referred to, a “homebrew” taste. However, the condition of brewing water is critical to achieving optimum results, and this important area is often overlooked. By using Pure Brew, you can effectively and easily condition brewing water, and maximise effective fermentation.

The addition of beer finings will improve the final quality of your beer. Finings such as Harris Beer Brite will help your beer to clear quickly and the sediment will be more likely to stay at the bottom of bottles or barrels. If you are using Corny Kegs then it is important to clear the beer as much as possible before kegging. Beer Finings will promote a faster and more efficient fall out of sediment and haze particles prior to kegging. Harris Starbrite is a highly effective vegan-friendly beer fining, which is rapidly becoming a firm favourite with home brewers.
