Description

Pacifica is sometimes known as Pacific Hallertau due to its German lineage. It was bred through open pollination of the highly regarded Hallertauer Mittlefrüh variety and released after successful brewing trials in 1994.

Pacifica has classic Hallertau citrus and floral aroma characteristics which enable it to really standout, giving notes of orange, marmalade and lime with citrus, floral and herbal additions. It has a generous oil profile making it suitable for several different beer styles.

Pacifica brings something of a mash-up of new and old-world tastes to the table. It retains that spicy, almost cinnamon like characteristic blended with the New Zealand influence of bright lime, citrus, and floral. Orange marmalade very well describes the citrus aroma notes achieved through adding it late in the brew. Bittering quality is good too: early kettle additions give a soft yet solid finish even in highly bittered beers.

Try Pacifica in a Pilsner, Lager or Porter recipe. Pacifica is Ideally suited to traditional German lager styles yet is currently also finding wider application with a new generation through the craft market’s admiration for a good Pale Ale.
