Merlot is a dark blue-coloured wine grape variety, that is used for both varietal wines and as a blending grape. Its softness, combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin. Merlot is one of the primary grapes used in Bordeaux wine, and it is the most widely planted grape in the Bordeaux wine regions. Merlot is also one of the most popular red wine varietals in many markets.
This kit produces 22.5L (30 bottles equivalent) of stunning Merlot (5 gallon of red wine) at around 11% ABV. This kit is a 7-day wine kit, and the wine will be ready after 7 days, however, we recommend leaving the wine for longer before drinking it so the flavours of the wine can deepen and mature.
The only additional ingredients you will require for this kit are sugar (4kg) and water.
You will need the basic winemaking equipment to make this kit which can be found in the 'Starter Kits' section of our website

- A great Kit that tastes like the wine it says it should
First time I have tried this kit having used one from another supplier costing £10 more. The one I usually use had a generic taste That you could rarely distinguish as a type of wine... This however is actually tastes like Melot, so much so I prefer it over shop brought. side note... I didn't fancy the stated 11% for a red over 7 days so stuck an extra kilo of sugar in and fermentation took 14 days but gave a lovely tasting clean wine.
