Woodfordes top quality beer kits have been developed in conjunction with the Woodfordes brewery using their original grist formulation to accurately emulate the individual character of the Woodfordes commercial beers. Woodfordes has grown from a small scale brewery to become one of the largest and most respected new cask ale brewers who started up in the early 1980's. This was when beer drinkers finally began to steer away from the relentless blandness of the larger brewers products. Pioneers firstly turned to home brewing and secondly to commercial production of their original recipes. Woodfordes has an exceptional reputation and is recognised for their outstanding quality and flavours. Regional variations in water quality may have a subtle influence on the taste of the final brew.
Woodfordes Wherry bitter has an inviting aroma of malt and citrus fruit. The palate is crisp and citrussy with malt and fine hop notes introducing an interesting complexity to this thirst quenching faviurite. The hoppy grapefruit flavour adds the perfect unique bitter finish.
The Woodfordes Wherry has won awards such as Supreme Champion Beer of Britain (Bronze) in 2005 and Supreme Champion Beer of Britain (Gold) in 1996.
This 3kg Real Ale kit is the most recent addition to the Woodfordes beer kits and makes up to 40 pints. The Wherry kit includes hopped malt extract (malted Barley, hops and water) (2 x 1.5kg cans) and dried brewing yeast (in sachet). No additional sugar is required for this kit.
Carbonation drops and sugar will be required for priming your bottles to allow secondary fermentation, giving the beer its carbonation (fizz) and ensuring the beer is not flat. These can be found under the 'Ingredients' section on our website.
Beer finings are also recommended to ensure a clear beer with a firm sediment. Beer finings can be found on our website under 'Ingredients' then 'Finings and Enzymes'.
Basic brewing equipment is required for this kit, which can be found in the 'Starter Kits' section of our website.
