Still Spirits Air Still Carbon Filter & Collector System

This is a spare collector and filter system for the Air Still. It contains 2 collectors, a top housing with carbon filter cartridge and a lid.

How does it work?

The spirit is poured into the op reservoir and it will filter through the carbon cartridge over time. The carbon will remove any impurities in taste and odour from the spirit, leaving a cleaner-tasting and smelling alcohol. The more times you pass the spirit through, the better the end result will be.

How quick does it filter?

This is slow. It will take approximately 12 hours to filter a litre of spirit.

Can I speed up the time?

You can speed up the process by a very small amount. Soak the carbon in hot water for 10 minutes before using, and filter in a warm environment. The warmth will keep the pores of the carbon open, whereas cold retracts the pores.

What strength of spirit can I filter?

Ideally, keep the spirit below 45% abv for a better filtration result. Carbon will always work best on spirit under 45% abv.
