The Commercial Brewery
Bathams Brewery has been at the heart of the Black Country’s brewing tradition for generations. The story began in 1882, when Daniel Batham Senior became landlord of the White Horse in Cradley Heath, laying the foundations for what would become one of the region’s most respected independent breweries.
Bathams Bitter owes much of its development to the brewing skills of D.B.A. “Arthur” Batham and the discerning tastes of the brewery’s loyal pub customers. Over the years, both Bathams Bitter and Bathams Mild have earned a dedicated following, with drinkers travelling from across the country to enjoy their distinctive character.
Today, Bathams remains closely associated with the Black Country, its traditional pubs and its long-standing approach to brewing. Its famous Bitter has become a true regional classic, recognised for its distinctive pale colour, drinkability and refreshing character.

This kit includes Pure Brew, a professional brewing enhancer designed to support healthy fermentation and improve brewing water. It provides essential yeast nutrients while helping neutralise chlorine and chloramine, which can contribute unwanted flavours to finished beer. For the best possible results, add the included Pure Brew as directed in the brewing instructions.
You will also receive Harris Starbrite Beer Finings, a vegan friendly beer clarifier that helps encourage yeast and other particles to settle, producing a brighter, clearer finished beer. This is particularly useful when kegging and can help reduce sediment transfer.
Your Bathams style extract beer kit also includes a disposable hop T-bag to make adding and removing the hop pellets simple and convenient. For home brewers who want to upgrade their setup, a reusable stainless steel dry hopper can provide greater hop circulation and can be cleaned and reused for future brews.

I knew this was going to be ok when it first went into ferment, the wort aroma and flavour were really nice. Now I am starting on drinking it I have to say it’s great! Already started another. Not going to compare with the brewery version but if you like that this will do fine.
Excellent kit. Leave to condition for 6 weeks or so and the flavours really come alive. Close copy of the commercial bottled brew. Definitely a repeat brew (after I’ve tried a few of the others ????).
