This Winexpert Classic California Chardonnay Riesling is a crisp and dry white wine with fresh flavours of green apple, citrus, and notes of stone fruit. It blends the popular Chardonnay and Riesling varieties to produce an excellent kit.

Everything you need to make this wine is included with the kit except water. This wine can be drunk after 28 days but we highly recommend that you leave it to mature for around 3 months to experience the quality, it will keep improving with age up to 12 months.  This kit will make 5 gallons (22.5 litres) of wine which will produce around  30 bottles of delicious wine.

What is Chardonnay?

Chardonnay is a green-skinned grape used in the production of white wine. The variety originated in the Burgundy wine region of eastern France, but is now grown wherever wine is produced, from England to New Zealand. The Chardonnay grape itself is very neutral and is vinified in many different styles, from the lean, crisply mineral wines of Chablis, France, to New World Wines with oak, and tropical fruit flavours. The flavours become more citrus, peach, and melon, while in very warm locations, more fig and tropical fruit notes such as banana and mango come out.

Chardonnay is arguably the most famous and successful of all white wine grapes and also one of the most widely planted.

Riesling is a bit of an enigma; ethereal, floral and enchanting, Riesling is also one of the world’s hardiest grape varieties, with a high level of frost resistance meaning it thrives in some of the coolest climate wine regions. This aromatic grape variety makes some of the world’s finest white wines in a vast variety of styles, the best of which will age brilliantly, turning from floral, lime aromas and flavours to intriguing developed aromas of kerosene.
