To place a plastic cork on a bottle that needs to be softened in hot water, follow these steps:

1 Prepare Hot Water:
Begin by heating a pot or kettle of water until it reaches a temperature that is hot but not boiling. Alternatively, you can use a bowl of hot tap water.

2 Soak the Plastic Cork:
Submerge the plastic cork in the hot water for a few minutes, allowing it to soften. Ensure that the entire cork is immersed for even softening.

3 Prepare the Bottle:
While the cork is softening, ensure that the bottleneck is clean and dry. Remove any existing cork or residue.

4 Remove Cork from Hot Water:
Carefully take the plastic cork out of the hot water using tongs or a spoon. Be cautious as it may be hot.

5 Align and Insert:
Hold the softened plastic cork and align it with the bottleneck. Apply gentle downward pressure and twist the cork slightly as you insert it into the bottle.

6 Secure the Seal:
Continue pushing and twisting until the cork is securely in place. Check for any gaps or air leaks in the seal.

7 Adjust if Necessary:
If the cork is not sealing properly, adjust its position or apply additional pressure to achieve a tight seal.

8 Store Upright:
Once the plastic cork is securely in place, store the bottle upright to prevent leaks.
