Hop bitterness of the Razorback IPA is 5 (on a scale of 1-5). The kit produces a target alcohol content of 5.7% ABV (approx). The colour is pale straw with a white head.
What is IPA
IPA stands for India Pale Ale. It originated during the time when Britain ruled the Indian Empire. Beer being shipped long distances often spoiled due to heat, delays, and long travel times. Standard beers did not survive these conditions well. To solve this problem, brewers developed stronger beers with higher hop levels. These beers were better preserved during transport and became known as India Pale Ales (IPAs).
IPA Characteristics and Flavour
Modern IPAs are best known for their bold hop character. Brewers often use multiple hop varieties added at different stages of the brewing process. This has a major impact on Flavour, Aroma and Bitterness. Depending on the hops used, IPAs commonly feature aromas of citrus, pine, floral notes, and tropical fruit—especially when American hops are used.
Main IPA Styles
Over time, several key IPA styles have developed:
- American IPA – Bold, citrus-forward and hop-heavy
- English IPA – More balanced with earthy, traditional hop character
- Double IPA (DIPA) / Imperial IPA – Stronger, more intense hop flavour and higher alcohol content
Modern IPA Variations
Craft breweries continue to innovate, creating many IPA sub-styles, including:
- Black IPA
- Wheat IPA
- Belgian White IPA
- Hybrid IPA styles
- Triple IPA (TIPA)
One of the fastest-growing categories is “Juicy Hazy” IPA, also known as New England IPA (NEIPA). These beers are unfiltered, cloudy, and packed with intense tropical hop flavours.
IPA Today
Today, IPA is one of the most popular beer styles worldwide. The wide range of styles and flavours means there is an IPA for almost every taste. This variety also makes IPAs especially exciting for home brewers, offering endless opportunities for experimentation and creativity.

Tips
We strongly recommend using Pure Brew with this kit to achieve commercial-quality beer. Pure Brew acts as a professional beer enhancer and improves fermentation performance. It feeds yeast essential nutrients and supports strong fermentation, even in low oxygen conditions. Additionally, it treats brewing water and removes chlorine and chloramine. These compounds can cause unwanted “homebrew” flavours in the finished beer. Brewing water quality plays a key role in final beer quality. However, many homebrewers often overlook this important factor. Pure Brew helps you easily condition water and improve fermentation results.
Furthermore, beer finings improve clarity and final presentation. Harris Beer Brite clears beer quickly and helps sediment settle at the bottom. This works especially well for bottles and barrels after fermentation. If you use Corny Kegs, clear the beer as much as possible before kegging. Finings help sediment and haze particles drop out more efficiently before packaging. Harris Starbrite provides a highly effective vegan-friendly fining option. As a result, homebrewers achieve clearer, better-looking, and better-tasting beer.

This one packs a punch in strength,5.7% and flavour, very hoppy.
I added the supplied hops loose and it kept the hoppy taste until the last drop 8 months later.
I transferred mine to a King Keg top tap and it ran under its own steam until about the last 8 pints where I just added a bit of C02 from my brewgas bottle to the keg.
Second time for this kit and spot on. Lovely IPA.
I have tried all the premium ipa kits out there. This is the best I’ve had so far. As good as any pub pint. Brewed to 5.7 %
When not brewing all grain, I’m a big fan of the Festival range of extract kits. Razorback is very hop forward with a lovely bitter finish. One word of warning: it doesn’t last very long – or it certainly didn’t with me. Extremely drinkable despite its strength. Looking forward to brewing this again for the spring.
Love this kit, the beer gets better the longer u leave it in the bottle and it brews quite quickly compared to some other IPA kits
