Description
Geordie Yorkshire Bitter
Geordie Yorkshire Bitter is light in colour and has a slightly sweet taste of the best traditional Yorkshire beers. Made from natural ingredients – malt, hops and barley – it has a creamy head and full body. It is satisfying to drink and just as satisfying to make.
This is a 1.5 kg beer kit made from malt extract, barley syrup and hops.
What is Yorkshire Bitter?
Yorkshire bitter refers to a regional style of bitter associated with Yorkshire brewing traditions. Brewers typically produce it as a fuller, malt-forward, and slightly richer version of standard bitter.
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS REQUIRED to make Geordie Yorkshire Bitter:
To make this kit, you will either need 1Kg Brewing Sugar or 1Kg Amber Beer Kit Enhancer (Preferred) . Later, you will also need sugar or carbonation drops to prime the keg or bottles for the secondary fermentation. We also advise using finings like Starbrite to ensure your lager clears quickly and the sediment sticks to the bottom on the bottle or keg.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED to make Geordie Yorkshire Bitter?
Basic beer making equipment (5g fermenter, airlock, syphon tube with sediment trap, hydrometer, Suresan sanitiser, bottles or barrel). These are available under the starter kit section on this website.
TIPS

We strongly recommend using Pure Brew with this kit to achieve commercial-quality beer. Pure Brew acts as a professional beer enhancer and improves fermentation performance. It feeds yeast essential nutrients and supports strong fermentation, even in low oxygen conditions. Additionally, it treats brewing water and removes chlorine and chloramine. These compounds can cause unwanted “homebrew” flavours in the finished beer. Brewing water quality plays a key role in final beer quality. However, many homebrewers often overlook this important factor. Pure Brew helps you easily condition water and improve fermentation results.
Furthermore, beer finings improve clarity and final presentation. Harris Beer Brite clears beer quickly and helps sediment settle at the bottom. This works especially well for bottles and barrels after fermentation. If you use Corny Kegs, clear the beer as much as possible before kegging. Finings help sediment and haze particles drop out more efficiently before packaging. Harris Starbrite provides a highly effective vegan-friendly fining option. As a result, homebrewers achieve clearer, better-looking, and better-tasting beer.

Very impressed by Geordie Yorkshire Bitter – an excellent and consistent session beer. I ferment for eight days using 500 grams Spraymalt with 500 grams sugar and then bottle the ale. It’s usually clear within three days and drinkable within ten days, but I’d recommend leaving it for at least three weeks – probably longer if in a barrel. The condition, head and body are invariably good and the taste has that sweet/slightly sour element associated with a good Yorkshire bitter. Great value for money if you’re looking for an easy-drinking ale.
