Tiny Rebel Cwtch Welsh Red Ale Kit

Probably the best word ever. Cwtch (rhymes with butch) can mean either cuddle or cubbyhole. Grab a glass, relax and cwtch up with this untraditional Welsh red ale – a perfect blend of six caramelly malts and three citrussy American hops. Itis not your average bitter – the hops do more to this deep amber coloured beer than just provide bite. Any old hop can do that! Some of the most aromatic and tangy hops from the other side of the pond have been selected to give this red a fresh hit that complements the caramel flavours of the malts that gives this beer its colour. Drinkability and balance makes this beer. We love a good Cwtch, and we are not the only ones.

This kit makes 36 pints of beer at 4.6% abv. It has a beautiful red colour with American hop additions using Citra and Columbus hops. The IBU scale it achieves a score of 50, and has a starting gravity of 1.045.

DO YOU NEED ANY OTHER INGREDIENTS?

This is an all malt beer kit, and you do not need any additional sugar or beer kit enhancer to make the kit. However, you will need some sugar or carbonation drops to prime the bottles or keg for a secondary fermentation.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED?

Basic beer making equipment (5g fermenter, airlock, syphon tube with sediment trap, hydrometer, Suresan sanitiser, bottles or barrel). These are available under the starter kit section on this website.

TIPS

We strongly recommend using Pure Brew with this kit in order to achieve a commercial quality. Pure Brew is a professional beer enhancer. Achieving optimum results in brewing critically depends on the condition of brewing water, but this important area is often overlooked. By using Pure Brew, you can effectively and easily condition brewing water, and maximise effective fermentation.

The addition of beer finings will improve the final quality of your beer. Finings such as Harris Beer Brite will help your beer to clear quickly and the sediment will be more likely to stay at the bottom of bottles or barrels. If you are using Corny Kegs then it is important to clear the beer as much as possible before kegging. Beer Finings will promote a faster and more efficient fall out of sediment and haze particles prior to kegging. Harris Starbrite is a highly effective vegan-friendly beer fining, which is rapidly becoming a firm favourite with home brewers.
