The Commercial Brewery

Shipyard Brewing Company is a brewery based in Portland, Maine, with roots in the American craft brewing scene dating back to the early 1990s. The company developed from Federal Jack’s brewpub in Kennebunkport before expanding its brewing operations and establishing Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland in 1994.

The brewery has a long connection with British brewing traditions through master brewer Peter Austin, who developed his brewing experience in England before moving to the United States. Shipyard has brewed a wide range of beers over the years, combining traditional brewing influences with American ingredients and craft beer styles.

Shipyard Pale Ale became particularly well known in the UK market for its refreshing character and distinctive American hop profile, helping introduce many drinkers to the bright grapefruit and citrus flavours associated with American-style pale ales.

For the best possible results, add the included Pure Brew as directed in the brewing instructions.

You will also receive Harris Starbrite Beer Finings, a vegan friendly beer clarifier that helps encourage yeast and other particles to settle, producing a brighter, clearer finished beer. This is particularly useful when kegging and can help reduce sediment transfer.

Your Shipyard Pale Ale style extract beer kit also includes a disposable hop T-bag to make adding and removing the hop pellets simple and convenient.
